How to add an M3U playlist

An M3U or M3U8 playlist is the link or file your IPTV provider gives you, listing its channels, movies and series. Here is how to add it to AREZTV on every device.

What you need

AREZTV is a player only and does not provide playlists. Your provider usually sends the link by email or shows it in your account area.

  • The M3U link from your IPTV provider, usually ending in .m3u or .m3u8
  • Or a .m3u or .m3u8 file saved on your phone or tablet

Add it on iPhone, iPad or Android

  1. Open the M3U screen

On first launch, choose M3U Import. If you already have a playlist, go to Settings and tap + Add New Provider.

  2. Paste the link or pick a file

Paste your link into M3U URL, or tap Pick Local File to use a file on your device. A name is optional.

  3. Test the connection

Tap Test Connection. When you see Connection successful!, the playlist is ready.

  4. Save

Tap Save and Continue. AREZTV loads the playlist and sorts it into Live TV, Movies and Series.

Add it on Apple TV

On Apple TV you do not type the link. Add the playlist on your phone as above, then open AREZTV on Apple TV and scan its QR code with your phone. The playlist moves to the TV. Read the pairing guide.

An M3U link that is really Xtream Codes

Many M3U links contain a username and password. When AREZTV recognizes one, it shows Xtream Codes API detected - Advanced features available and connects through the Xtream Codes API. You also see your subscription status, expiry date and number of connections. More about Xtream Codes.

If the playlist does not load

More messages are explained in playlist and playback errors.

  • URL is invalid or unreachable: check that you copied the whole link, including http:// or https://, and that your subscription is active.
  • Invalid M3U file. Must be a .m3u/.m3u8 file with #EXTM3U header: the file is not a playlist. Ask your provider for the M3U file again.
  • M3U validation failed: the server answered, but not with a playlist. Wait a minute and try again, or ask your provider.

AREZTV is a media player only. It does not include any channels or content. You need the playlist or login details from your own IPTV provider.

Questions

What is the difference between M3U and M3U8?

Both are playlist formats. M3U8 is the UTF-8 version of M3U. AREZTV accepts both, by link or as a file.

Where do I find my M3U link?

Your IPTV provider gives it to you, usually in the welcome email or in your account area. AREZTV does not provide playlists or channels.

Can I add more than one playlist?

Yes. Add each one as a provider. In Settings you can switch between them, and the content of the provider you switch to is loaded.
